Specific Need
Specific needs include resources for programs including Youth Leadership Groups, mentors in schools, and suicide prevention programming.
Sponsorships and financial donations keep these programs available for all of Reno County. Awareness and education about prevention are necessary for the community to reach youth before they ever start using illegal substances or considering suicide.
Every $1 spent on drug and alcohol prevention saves $20 on future substance-related problems including, legal issues, health problems, and overdoses.
A caring mentor spending one hour a week with a student who is at risk of falling behind in school reduces their likelihood of using drugs by 46% and increases their likelihood of graduating from high school.
People from all sectors of Reno County are invited to participate in the coalition process of assessing local data and implementing programs and practices to keep our youth safe from drugs, alcohol, and suicide.
