Profile
Cause for Paws, Inc. (CFPI) has been in existence for nearly 20 years. We are a 100% volunteer organization. Our STOP program to spay / neuter pets for low income owners is our largest focus. Since our inception, over 6,500 animals have been altered in STOP due to the generosity of our donors and supporters. Currently, the need for spay/neuter for animals in the city of Hutchinson is more urgent than ever.
We have an assistance program called Healthy Paws for emergency veterinarian visits for low income households who simply are not able to afford unexpected illness or injury. We also assist the homeless with vaccinations for pets in order to keep the pets with the owner and not have the pet surrendered to the shelter. All three of these programs are focused on helping the community reduce the volume of pets surrendered to our shelter. Many landlords require that pets be altered and vaccinated. By assisting with these pet care issues, we can keep the pets with the owner and reduce shelter overcrowding.
CFPI also established and maintains the Hutchinson Dog Park located at the Hutchinson Animal Shelter. A pet memorial wall at the dog park is currently under renovations, furnished by donors.
CFPI maintains a rescue van for the exclusive purpose of transporting adoptable pets from our shelter to rescue groups in Kansas and also out of state on a regular basis - several times monthly! These trips further reduce shelter overcrowding and allow animals a better chance at adoption.
CFPI hosts two community events - our Howl-o-Ween party at the animal shelter and Dogs Days at the Salt City Splash. We greatly appreciate all donations that help us make Hutchinson a better place to live for our citizens and our pets!
